Dinner @ The Cheesecake Factory

I’ve read so much about The Cheesecake Factory in food blogs that there’s no way I could be in California and not try it out myself. Indeed the place was crowded (meaning it must be very popular) but the good thing was we didn’t have to wait, we were seated immediately.

Wading through the menu was something else. There’s just so much to choose from and we had to tell our server to give us more time to make a decision.

We ordered the shrimp platter which was a big serving considering we were served bread rolls for appetizer. The shrimps were fresh and crispy, yums.

The chicken (I forget what it’s called  ) came with a huge plop of mashed potato and too few broccoli. But it was good nevertheless.

And of course, the star of the evening has got to be this super luscious Red Velvet Cheesecake. And there’s so many cheesecakes on the menu, if I had ordered more, I’d be asking does alli work?

Taco, first things first

The first place we stopped at right out of the airport was this buffet place. I’m sorry I was so tired and hungry I didn’t notice the name of the restaurant. All I could think of was what food I could pounce on the minute I hit the buffet line  .

As you might’ve guessed, I headed straight to the taco area and quickly slapped together this scrumptious taco. One bite and I was in heaven, so happy I would’ve treated myself to a Dutch Master. Just kiddin’!

Dinner @ Deutsches Gasthaus

On a whim, we decided to check out the Deutsches Gasthaus, a bar that serves German food. We got there early, way ahead of the happy hour crowd so we practically had the place to ourselves. Nice  !

We ordered the Premium Sausage set (or something like that) which came with a veggie salad and a potato salad and this heap of scrumptious sausages and the cool thing is that they all tasted different.

The Grilled Platter came with a veggie salad, a heap of french fries and an assortment of grilled lamb, chicken, pork and more sausages!

You may not know what a duet dha is but you should know that these yummy sausages are known as ‘wurst’ in German, though there really is no reason to call them that when they are clearly the ‘best’ tasting ever!

McD’s sundae – half cup to be drunk, not eaten!

These days, when we buy a McDonald’s sundae, we get a half cup for the full price! Being that we believe in the power of positive thinking, we’re looking at this cup of melted sundae as being half full as opposed to half empty.

McDonald's - Sundae

This is the serving we got at the 1 Utama outlet downstairs where they take one look at us and decide we should be served a half cup, not a full cup like for some other customers.

Ice cream is fattening, as we all know, and I’m sure McDonald’s is serving us a half portion for our own good. Thanks, Mac, for helping us regulate how much we eat, lest we should over-indulge and have to torture ourselves endlessly on fitness equipment afterwards. Oh and could we please have a straw instead of a spoon so we can drink our melted ice-cream?

dinner @ Fish & Co.

We’ve probably walked past Fish & Co. at 1 Utama a thousand times but never stepped inside. Recently my son had dinner there with his college friends and he says the food there is pretty decent for the price.

He took us to try their Fish and Chips one night. I would never have believed we could get fish and chips for around 10 bucks. But yes, it’s true, their piping hot, crispy New York Fish and Chips is served in a pan and comes topped with melted cheese.

Fish & Co. -New York Fish 'n Chips

Pretty yummy. Kinda reminds of the ones we’ve had while onĀ disney world vacations when the kids were much younger. The drinks are expensive though so we don’t order any. Instead we ask for water which, as I found out, is supposed to be served with the meal but we won’t get it unless we ask for it.

I also found out that they don’t tell you about ongoing promotions with certain credit cards or certain days of the week. I stumbled upon some of their promos by chance, and if we’d known about those when we were there, we could’ve gotten an even better deal. Most restaurants have a promo card on each table to highlight their specials. Not this place! Looks like they won’t tell you unless you ask for it. We haven’t gone back since  .
