Four Foods on Friday #139

I’ve had a hectic week but here comes valmg’s FFOF questions this week.

1. When you have french fries at home, do you make them or use frozen?

I’ve used frozen once or twice, but don’t any more. For some reason, I find the frozen ones seem to be somewhat ‘hollow’ and doesn’t taste like potatoes.

2. What is your favorite type of fried potato?

I like the occasional hash browns.

3. What do you have with your fries or potatoes?

I like chilly sauce with my fries.

4. What’s your least favorite thing about french fries?

French fries don’t keep/reheat well. Since we don’t like to waste food, we have to finish everything up so as not to have leftovers.

Four Foods on Friday #137

Valmg of Fun, Crafts and Recipes has just posted these four questions about ramen noodles for this week’s FFOF.

1. How do you usually make ramen noodles?

I cook them in a pot and then drain them in a strainer. If I’m lazy, I just pop them into the microwave.

2. What’s your favorite flavor of ramen noodles?

Spicy.

3. Do you add anything to your ramen noodles?

If I’m making it as a quick snack, I don’t add anything. If it’s for a main meal, I might add a leafy green veggie or lettuce, fishballs or eat it with a fried egg.

4. Is there a flavor of ramen noodles do you wish was on the market?

I don’t eat this often, so I’m fine with spicy.

Have a great weekend!

Four Foods on Friday #135

Valmg of Fun, Crafts and Recipes has just posted four questions about pasta. I just have to do this week’s questions because of how much I love pasta  .

1. What type of pasta is your favorite?

Linguine and fusili.

2. Is there a type of pasta that you don’t like at all?

Yup, there are several, in fact. The tubular ones, the super-thin ones like spaghettini, and ribbons.

3. What’s your favorite ravioli filling?

I’ve never made ravioli.

4. Do you use regular or no-bake lasagna noodles?

No-bake lasagna.

Have a great weekend.

Four Foods on Friday #134

This week, these are the four questions valmg posted about bread.

1. When making a sandwich, do you put condiments on one or both pieces of bread?

One side.

2. If you could create a type of bread you could buy at the supermarket, what would it be?

Wholemeal bread. I used to bake it myself when I was less lazy  .

3. Do you eat the heels/ends from loaves of bread?

Sometimes. Most days, they get fed to our dog who chomps it down like he were eating good prenatal vitamins.

4. What’s one type of bread you don’t like?

Sourdough.

I’ve missed playing FFOF for a while. Guess I haven’t done too good a job keeping up with which set of questions was for which Friday :???: . Anyhow this week’s question is:

What can you make with eggs, meat or poultry, vegetables and a starch?

First thing that comes to mind is fried rice. It’s a simple one-dish meal that’s great for clearing any leftovers in my fridge.

The good thing is you can use practically anything – rice, barbecued pork, sausages, and veggies though soft veggies like cabbage don’t taste as good when refried. So I usually add a handful of freshly diced carrots, French beans or long beans, basically a harder vegetable to give it a bit of a crunch.

No two fried rice I make are the same, simply because it really depends on what ingredients I happen to have on hand. Here are my recipes for spicy fried rice and the yummiest fried rice ever  .
