An amazing salad with no name

I’m super crazy about salads these days and since we’re trying to eat healthier, I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all. We try to have some sort of salad every week and I’m working it into a regular feature.

We’ve always been big fans of 1001 Island dressing. It’s the sweetness factor that the kids take to instantly. But somewhere along the line, I figure I could make a healthier dressing from scratch.

Doesn’t this look delicious? Here I have romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, orange, grapefruit, cranberries and sunflower seeds with my own concoction of a citrus dressing topped off with ham bits. It didn’t taste half bad actually!

This was so easy to put together and was a great excuse for me to get away from reading about the side effects of extenze I have to do for a writing project.

Mother’s Day gift idea: A California Healthy fresh fruit and nut basket

California Healthy

Crispy, crunchy, sweet and savory – our collection of fresh fruit and nuts is just the right mix of healthy and delicious. Fresh apples and oranges are surrounded by a collection of California grown roasted salted mixed nuts, roasted salted pistachios, roasted salted cashews, honey cinnamon almonds, chocolate toffee almonds and mocha almonds. All packed in a handsome wooden crate.

Most refreshingly natural drink on Planet Earth

One of my favorite drinks of all time is the fresh coconut. In the past few weeks, I’ve had coconut juice like 3 times. Guess I’m addicted to it now. I think it’s the best thing ever for the kind of hot weather we’re having.

Coconut juice is so refreshing when I come in from the hot sun or after my workout. It’s rich in potassium and all-round natural goodness. If anyone’s awarding any trophies to the lightest, freshest drink on Planet Earth, I would definitely vote for this.

Fresh green apple juice

OMG, what I wouldn’t give for a glass of apple juice right now! Just look at this.

This is the jumbo-sized glass that my daughters ordered at lunch the other day and the 3 of us shared this. It’s amazing how refreshing this is on a hot day.

I much prefer to make juices at home though because it’s so much cheaper and at least I know it’s pure juice with no added sugar.

Hobson’s choice

I go to the grocery store and quite frankly, the selection of fruits and veggies here pale in comparison to the plentiful variety I’ve seen in California. I keep walking around in circles trying to decide which fruits appeal to me but the selection is quite sad so usually I end up picking up just anything.

So sometimes even if I earnesly want to eat what a colon cleanser review tells me, there’s no guarantee I can find the item or not have to pay through my nose for it. Know what I mean?
