McD’s sundae – half cup to be drunk, not eaten!

These days, when we buy a McDonald’s sundae, we get a half cup for the full price! Being that we believe in the power of positive thinking, we’re looking at this cup of melted sundae as being half full as opposed to half empty.

McDonald's - Sundae

This is the serving we got at the 1 Utama outlet downstairs where they take one look at us and decide we should be served a half cup, not a full cup like for some other customers.

Ice cream is fattening, as we all know, and I’m sure McDonald’s is serving us a half portion for our own good. Thanks, Mac, for helping us regulate how much we eat, lest we should over-indulge and have to torture ourselves endlessly on fitness equipment afterwards. Oh and could we please have a straw instead of a spoon so we can drink our melted ice-cream?

lunch @ Popeyes

The newly-opened Popeyes looked kinda interesting as we were strolling past it at Midvalley the other day. Fast food freaks that we are, we just had to stop by.

We ordered the super meal set for 4 persons. The fried chicken tasted like most other fried chickens, only less salty which is great with me. We were excited about the biscuits (which is like scones) but were disappointed that they were dry and rather tasteless.

While the fried chicken was pretty okay, the fish fillet was soggy. My kids wouldn’t eat it so I ended up stuffing myself with two whole pieces.

The French fries with Cajun sprinkles were different and we liked them. If it’s the one thing we’ll be going back to Popeyes for, it’ll be their French fries.

The music was loud and fast, the kind of music that rushes you through your food. But what was worse was that we had to eat with our hands! Sure there are faucets to wash up afterwards but still I hate the idea. a lot! I could’ve asked for forks and knives like I usually do when I go to KFC but I didn’t fancy trying to find my way back to the top of the Friday lunch crowd.

the Prosperity Burger is back!

Okay, if you’ve been drooling in your sleep about the McDonald’s Prosperity Burger you had last Chinese New Year, well, it’s ba-ack!

With a vengence, I might add!

The girls and I innocently stepped into McD’s this afternoon and woot, there’s the Beef Prosperity Burger, and then there’s the Double Beef Prosperity Burger for doubly good luck in riding out this economic crisis.

To be on the safe side, go for that Double Beef Prosperity Burger for double the pimples wealth, double the zits money, double the acne good fortune  .

Yes, we’re officially one month (give or take) away from Chinese New Year so if you start eating ‘em prosperity burgers now, you’ll be looking nice and fat prosperous by Chinese New Year!

Okay and you can stop wondering now. McDonald’s isn’t paying me in Prosperity Burgers to write this post, okay?

hotdogs @ 1901

When we eat out, hotdogs is usually never our first choice for a very simple reason. Teens have ravenous appetites and within a few minutes of eating a hotdog each, we’ll be having his conversation.

Any one of my kids: Mom, when are we having lunch?

Me: But we just had lunch  !

Another of my kids: THAT was lunch???

The third one: Mom, I’m still hungry! *poor puppy dog eyes*

So you can see why hotdogs can only be a snack for us. Hotdogs are not cheap either if you eat them outside. So the kids know one is the limit! So 1901 isn’t something we do too often.

But this time, our excuse was we had a late breakfast so we were looking for a light lunch. We ordered the combo meal which comes with a free drink.

My son finished this Chicago Beef Hotdog in 3 chomps  .

The girls prefer the New York Chicken.

Frankly I do too but decided to give the Texas Ted a try. It’s just as I like it, a little spicy.

toasty and fruity @ Juice Works

Raine suggested we stop by Juice Works for a drink on our way home from our morning errands. We have coupons for a breakfast combo of Toasty and Fruity which sounded really good to a couple of empty tummies.

Raine chose the Lychee Fruity blended drink and the Tomato Cheese toasty which turned out to be Mango Ham. Obviously the girl working the counter didn’t have a clue how to make a Toasty because right after we placed our order, she crawled under the counter and started making phone calls in hushed tones to find out what it was. Duh!

The toasty that was served to us looked like this. I took this picture with my PDA camera which was the only thing I had on me. Granted it’s not the clearest picture in the world but you can still see how wimpy and soggy that toast looks… and tastes. The next time we go to Juice Works, we’d better stick to their juicy blends.

Not satisfied with the toasty we had, I stopped by the grocery store on my way home and bought the ingredients to make my own toasties. In my next post, I’ll show you how to make robust and mouth-watering toasties that pack a crunch!
