We typically avoid Chinese restaurants like the plague during Chinese New Year simply because we don’t relish the idea of getting ripped off paying double for a hyped-up meal with auspicious-sounding names. I mean why, when we can have Chinese any day of the year?

If we could get rich from eating food with the words Good Fortune or Prosperity in them, Planet Earth would be sprouting billionaires sooner than you can say ‘money’ .

So the kids and I were wandering around the new Giant at Kota Damansara which, by the way, just opened recently. In fact, it’s so new the renovations and moving services crews are still busy setting up some stores.

At any rate, Nachos Nachos looked like an interesting option. We love Mexican food so we happily ordered away. This is the Tortilla Salad which, if you ask me, looks like kitchen leftovers hurriedly thrown together.

Frankly whoever heard of fishballs in a salad? *shudders* And somehow that bit of guacamole and whatever was barely enough to really dress the salad. We just kinda dipped the veggies into it.

With the Nacho Beef Pepperoni, they’re very generous with the sour cream and jalapenos as  you can see but where’s the cheese?

The Potato Skins were alright except for the scant toppings and not enough cheese.

This is the complimentary Kid’s Pizza you get when you order two meals off the main menu, I think. This is reminiscent of the one Chili’s serves except this one comes with pineapples.

I’m so glad the four of us decided to share 3 orders. I guess if you’ve never tasted Mexican before, you might be happy with this meal because you won’t know the nachos aren’t supposed to be soft, and that heaping on the sour cream doesn’t make up for the complete lack of cheese.

As for us, right after we paid a small fortune and left the shop hungry, we went straight upstairs to the kopitiam (coffee shop) for a real meal.
