four foods on Friday #48

Yay, glad the weekend is coming up. I’m quite lazy to go grocery-shopping these days. Luckily my girls are a good help with the shopping as well as meal ideas. But I’m still the one making out the grocery list. While I’m procrastinating on that, let me write up today’s post.

#1.  Melon. What’s your favorite kind?
Cantaloupes would be my first choice but they’re not easy to find here and very expensive when I do find them.

Watermelons and rock melons (or honeydew) are plentiful and readily available though. So I get to eat them quite often. Honeydews with a strong sickly sweet fragrance are my favorite :grin: .

#2.  Orange citrus. What’s your favorite - oranges, nectarines, navel oranges, tangerines, etc.
Whatever kind of orange I eat must be sweet, not too sour. I love them all - oranges, grapefruit, pomelo, tangerines, lemons, limes.

I confess I stuff myself silly with mandarin oranges once a year during Chinese New Year :lol: . I love citrus smells and juices which makes me partial to citrus-flavored air fresheners, shampoos, soaps…

#3.  Oreos. What kind is your favorite? (Don’t eat Oreos? What about olives?)
I love Oreo vanilla sandwiches dipped in milk. I also crush them and sprinkle them into my vanilla ice-cream.

#4.  Pot pie. Share a recipe. (No pot pie recipe? What about a casserole or some other hot meal you bake?)
I love chicken pies, homemade, low sodium but I’m somewhat pastry-challenged. It took me a long time to find the perfect ready-made pastry. Now that I’ve found it, I can make my own chicken pies any time :smile: . Nice!!

That recipe looks AWESOME!

I use lots of citrus bath and body products. My husband is bothered by most the the flowery and exotic smells, so citrus is a safe bet.

Those look like they would make a flaky crust. I have trouble with making my crust too doughy. I am working on it.

@tina
Your house must smell great :grin: .

@karen
This is frozen crust I’m using. I can’t make it this flaky either from scratch.

I just saw pomelos in Costco today, and wasn’t sure what they are, so I didn’t get them. I’ll have to check them out.

@sheri
I prefer sweet pomelos to sour ones. I’ll be writing up a post later on how to open a pomelo.

That pastry looks soooo good!
