Oops, is it Friday again? I’m really behind this week. I haven’t made out my grocery list yet. Instead I’ve been working on the interesting variety of questions this week.
#1. Share a recipe for something Italian.
I regularly make pizza on a baguette which my kids love and have asked for over and over again.

#2. Jam, jelly, preserves, marmalade, fruit butter or butter. What’s on your toast or bread?
I pretty much go with what the kids want. They go through phases so we get a good variety that way. Sometimes it’s coconut jam (kaya), sometimes garlic butter.
Recently, we’ve been on this St. Dalfour Four Fruits jam craze. It’s chunky with bits of fruit and is not too sweet. Four Fruits contains cherries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries with no added sugar, only natural sugar from the fruits and is based on an old French recipe.

This is the new bottle I bought just this weekend and it costs me a dollar more than it did last week. It’s crazy the prices of imported jams and we go through like one bottle a week.
#3. What’s your favorite Kellogg’s product? (Since they’re multinational I’m hoping everyone can answer this one. If you don’t have Kellogg’s products, what’s your favorite cold breakfast cereal?)
Kellogg’s Cornflakes, I like it plain with milk, no sugar. Sometimes I pop them as a snack for the crunch, without milk.
#4. Do you like liver? What about liverwurst?
Gag! Sorry and don’t even mention haggis
. When I was a kid, I was practically force-fed pig’s liver cooked in Chinese wine and ginger because it was supposed to be make me strong and healthy. Ew, nasty!!
Pig’s liver seems to have become a thing of the past though because of its high cholesterol content. About the only time I see it served is in these Cantonese Fried Noodles. I love the noodles but I wouldn’t touch the liver with a ten-foot pole! Bleh!
Well, Four Foods on Friday is as easy as answering four questions about food. I’ve learnt lots from reading the posts by other FFOF players. Wanna play? Go pick up this week’s questions from valmg’s blog at Fun, Crafts and Recipes, post the answers on your blog, then leave a link back at valmg’s blog and she’ll do a short write-up with a link back to your blog.

You and your family eat very different kinds of jams. We are boring and stick to grape or strawberry.

Guess we’re spoilt for choice. I’ve got a picky eater brood here. My kids get bored eating the same things every week. I leave it to them so I don’t have to crack my head

Yes, try them and let me know how it goes. They’re so easy I just cook the sauce base and my teens can take care of the rest. No need to even bother with a pizza base

Yumm. Those jams sound yummy. I am boring with my grape jelly.

Those pizzas look really good – but I think I’d pass on the hot dog topping! This would be a good make-your-own with my kids.

I went out this morning and bought a bottle of Smucker’s grape jelly. It’s cheaper than St Dalfour so I hope the kids like it. St Dalfour is getting too expensive, close to 10 bucks a bottle.

We do all sorts of topping with it – vegetarian, ham bits, bacon, and they all taste good

That pizza on a baguette looks really delicious! I’m going to have to give that a try.

I haven’t opened the bottle yet as we had garlic bread this morning. Smuckers is over 8 bucks here so not much of a diff. If the kids like it, I guess I’ll save 2 bucks a bottle.

The idea of wine and ginger wiht liver doesn’t appeal to me at all, and I’m not fond of pork liver but love calves liver. Go figure.
By skeet on 09.23.08 3:04 pm | Permalink
@skeet
. Thank goodness I’ve never had to eat it.
I don’t even want to think about calves’ liver
