I did a ton of grocery-shopping last weekend. Since the sales were on, I took the opportunity to stock up like crazy. My two daughters are sitting for major government exams soon so I’ve got to make sure there’s food for them to raid.
Studying, according to my kids, makes you extremely hungry. Plus I’ve got the weekend ahead to work on ‘brain food’ ideas for next week. Let’s see what I come up with
.
#1. Artichokes. Love em or leave em?
Leave ‘em please.
#2. What’s your favorite kind of bean?
I don’t really know and I have to think real hard. Coffee and soy are beans, right? Well, then I like coffee, soy bean milk and soy bean curd.
Oh and this 3-bean dessert soup of red beans, green beans and black-eyed peas is like a comfort food for me. I like it sweet and chilled.

#3. Share a recipe for any kind of cake.
Gosh, I haven’t baked a cake in like ages. We only have cake on birthdays so I’ve gotten into the habit of just buying one that’s nicely decorated instead of messing one up myself
.
This is a Butter Cake recipe I’ve been keeping to try but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
- 1 pound butter, room temperature
- 3 cups sugar
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Beat butter and sugar in a bowl till creamy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Fold the sieved flour and baking powder into the mixture, adding milk and vanilla as you go along. Mix well.
Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Pour batter into well-greased baking pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Cool and serve.
#4. What’s your favorite dairy product?
I’d say ice cream. Our latest craze seems to be Baskin Robbins since we found out about their 31% off all flavors on the 31st of the month.
