four foods on Friday #37 – parties

Anyone having a party this weekend? I’m taking a break from partying this weekend. I’ve been going to one too many 9-course wedding dinners lately and I’m starting to feel like a beached whale  .

But talking about parties is okay. I can do that. Here’s this week’s questions for Four Foods on Friday.

#1. Cake. Buttercream, whipped cream or ice cream?
I’d have to say ice cream cake. If it’s any other cream, I will scrape it off and throw it away.

#2. When entertaining do you use real, paper, plastic or styrofoam dishes?
Paper dishes would typically do the job. But then if there is curry or liquid-y food, then it’d have to be styrofoam. Not very eco-friendly, I know, that’s why I prefer not to use them.

#3. When hosting a party do you cook, have it catered or go to a restaurant?
We would usually just go to a restaurant. It’s easiest. Just dress up pretty and hop in the car  !

#4. Share a recipe that you frequently serve when having a party.
Spring rolls are a cinch to make and everyone loves them.

  1. Mmm…spring rolls. I need to make some of those. Oh yeah and can I have the buttercream you scrape off? :D

  2. @anele
Sure you can  but you can’t have my ice cream cake, uh-uh.

  3. I scrape a lot of frosting too, I can’t really handle all that sugar. (Of course, I have to eat some of it before I scrape!) :-D

  4. Dairy Queen is having a special on their ice cream cakes this month. I love their cakes.

  5. My step mother in law used to make spring rolls. Some of my inlaws called them something else that always made us laugh.
    Thanks for playing FFOF!
    Stumbled.

What I scrape off, my kids will pick up and lick clean  .

  8. @karen
Drool! Too bad I’ve used up my cake quota for the month, haha.

  9. @valmg
Hmm *scratches head*, and you wouldn’t care to tell me what they called them, huh?

  10. Paper dishes make the clean up easy, which is great!

  11. @deebee
Yep, but I’d use real dishes if it’s a small party for the family.

  12. I always thought spring rolls were harder to make, I’m going to have to wow my next dinner guests!

The wrapping can be a little labor-intensive if you’re making a big batch. I usually get some help with that  .
