four foods on Friday #25

You know what I like about Fridays apart from the fact that it’s the start of the weekend, that is? Well, it’s time to crank out my answers to valmg’s four foodie questions AND to go read the answers that others have posted. By the time you’re done, you’ll have fresh ideas to try next week.

#1. Cottage cheese. Small curd, large curd, chunk or whipped?
Um, again not a big fan of cheese.

#2. Burgers. Made fresh, preformed fresh or preformed frozen?
What a coincidence! I was planning to get some minced meat to make burgers for the kids’ lunch pack but I ended up buying frozen ones instead because they make a quicker (though less healthy) meal.

#3. If you could only buy one kind of salad dressing what would it be?
Thousand island, tangy and creamy.

#4. Share a crockpot or slow cooker recipe.
I typically have my vegetable soup going overnight in the crockpot. I fill up the pot with water and chicken bones for the soup base. Add cut-up chunks of potatoes, celery, carrots, onions and tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. By morning, I’ll have a lovely soup waiting :wink: .

Go grab the questions each week from valmg’s blog at Fun, Crafts and Recipes.

  2. Thousand Island dressing was my fav as a child and I still love it now and then ;) The soup sounds so comforting and easy!

  3. @Anele
    It’s my most frequently made soup :wink: .

    @Ash
    Comfort, that’s the word I was looking for, thanks Ash :lol: . It’s one of those comfort foods moms are famous for.

  4. What do you mean by “minced” meat? I thought maybe you were talking about ground beef but you said you make your kid’s lunches with it so that threw me.

  5. Thanks for playing Four Foods On Friday!
    Stumbled.

  6. [...] Chili Queen shared a recipe for vegetable soup and goes with the frozen burgers in the interests of saving time. [...]

  7. @Karen
    Yes, ground meat to make my own burger patties :smile: .

    @valmg
    Thanks :grin: .

  8. Thousand Island is the one dressing that I can’t stomach. I don’t know why, I like all the parts individually, just not together.

  9. Your soup recipe sounds soooo good! If I woke up and smelled it, I think I would eat it for breakfast! :)

  10. @corrin
    It took me a while to like it too :lol: .

    @charla
    Come to think of it, yeah, it does smell pretty good too :smile: though I’m usually rushing to get the kids off to school that I hardly notice.
